How to cut down on your Telecom expenses in 2010

Organizations are always looking for ways to save money. Telecom is a world most IT people do not deal with on a daily basis so it is hard to look for savings.  We have compiled a short list to get you started.

Look for Vendors who will “find you money”
These vendors go over your telecom bills and come up with a proposal where you can save money. Many of these vendors work off the idea of they will want a percentage of the money saved.  Look for ones who don’t charge unless they find you options.

Look for a Good Reseller
VARs can protect you to some degree. If a reseller is your single point of contact they can head off the extra charges companies try to slip past you. Look for a VAR that prohibits billing from a 3rd party.

Consolidate your practices
If you have multiple locations have all their bills sent to a central office.  You can have local people approve the bills, but have all the contracts, bill paying, and such done from the head office.  Telephone sales people like to send out staff to offices in hopes they will bite on the latest promotion.  This can end up causing confusion and costing money in the long run.
